RHEINZINK

Bondi Beach, one of Australia’s most famous beaches, was entered on the Australian National Heritage List as a national monument in 2008. Solidly built blocks of flats sprang up around there in the 1930s. One of these buildings received an extra floor as part of a restoration. This addition was clad with RHEINZINK titanium zinc. The material resists the extremely high stress while creating a powerful contrast to the surrounding structures at the same time. With its room-high glass sliding doors, the space offers an impressive view of the beach and the city of Sydney behind it, with the Tasmanian Sea in the far distance. You can find more information in the project report that can be downloaded on the left.
