An impressive building for an impressive city

Amid colorful jacaranda trees and other numerous flowers, the massive complex of the municipal building of the city of Tshwane in South Africa rises from the ground. The metropolitan municipality is the official capital of South Africa, located about 50km north of Johannesburg and surrounded by hills and mountains. When spring begins in the southern hemisphere, i.e. in October and November, the city blossoms with all its plants.

In order to blend in with the surrounding nature and still create the space for the important workplaces, the architects of LYT Architecture & Design chose titanium zinc from RHEINZINK in the surface quality prePATINA blue-grey for the facade of the administration building. The natural material, like nature, changes over the years. The formation of the protective patina ensures a constantly changing appearance, while at the same time being maintenance-free and durable. The high-quality appearance and elegance are retained.

A total of 25t of the material in the angled standing seam system was used in the project in South Africa.
